Apple crumble

INGREDIENTS

Apple mix

1kg apples, peeled and cored, cut into 1.5cm cubes (I used Granny Smith)

Juice from ½ a lemon

½ tsp nutmeg

½ tsp cinnamon

¼ tsp ground cloves

1 tbsp flour

Topping

¾ cup plain flour

¼ cup almond meal

½ cup oats

¼ cup brown sugar

¼ cup pepitas

½ tsp cinnamon

¼ tsp baking powder

125g butter, melted

METHOD

  1. Preheat oven to 180°C.
  2. Place the apple mixture ingredients directly into a baking dish and stir until well combined.
  3. In a bowl, combine the topping ingredients. Use your fingertips to rub the mixture until it resembles coarse breadcrumbs with some chunky bits.
  4. Sprinkle the crumble mixture evenly over the apples, covering them completely.
  5. Bake for 30-35 minutes or until golden brown.
  6. Serve warm with Greek yoghurt or ice cream.
